FSG and Extensions Programming

The Extensions Program at KMS offers Focused Study Group time for each of the grades. Students are selected through an analysis of test scores, grades, and level of enthusiasm for a particular subject. Currently FSG groups include a Literary Circle for 6th grade, Nature Writing and Discussion and Debate for 7th grade and Creative Writing for 8th grade, however these FSG topics can change quarter to quarter. The overall plan for the extensions FSG programming is to challenge students academically and encourage independent learning and student leadership with in-depth discussions.

Extended Learning Plans (ELP)

The goal of ELPs, or Extended Learning Plans, is to provide an extended learning opportunity for those students who need additional academic challenges in their classes. Admittance is through a teacher referral process and topics are related to a current unit of study. Extended Learning Plans will be sent home to be signed before a student begins the project.

Coding

During the months of October, November, and December students can meet in the PC Lab after school for robotics and computer programming learning opportunities. These workshops relate to the NH Cyber Robotics Coding Competition and the "Hour of Code" and Computer Science Education Week events that take place across the country. For more information contact Ms. Rafferty or Mrs. Stacey.
