FSG and Extensions Programming
The Extensions Program at KMS offers Focused Study Group time for each of the grades. Students are selected through an analysis of test scores, grades, and level of enthusiasm for a particular subject. Currently FSG groups include a Literary Circle for 6th grade, Nature Writing and Discussion and Debate for 7th grade and Creative Writing for 8th grade, however these FSG topics can change quarter to quarter. The overall plan for the extensions FSG programming is to challenge students academically and encourage independent learning and student leadership with in-depth discussions.
Extended Learning Plans (ELP)
The goal of ELPs, or Extended Learning Plans, is to provide an extended learning opportunity for those students who need additional academic challenges in their classes. Admittance is through a teacher referral process and topics are related to a current unit of study. Extended Learning Plans will be sent home to be signed before a student begins the project.
During the months of October, November, and December students can meet in the PC Lab after school for robotics and computer programming learning opportunities. These workshops relate to the NH Cyber Robotics Coding Competition and the "Hour of Code" and Computer Science Education Week events that take place across the country. For more information contact Ms. Rafferty or Mrs. Stacey.
STEM Fun Fridays
Starting second quarter, students can join Mrs. Stacey, Ms. Rafferty and KMS Science and Technology teachers for monthly explorations of hands-on activities related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
OCAC Ambassadors meets alternating Mondays, 2:45 - 3:30. The group is learning what it means to be an ambassador and student leader and how they can share the Outdoor Classroom and Activity Center with the school and with the Keene community. If your student is enthusiastic about nature and community service please speak with either Mrs. Stacey about how to join the group.

The Peace and Justice Club is a student leadership club for students who are interested in working towards peace in our community and learning about justice and equality from a global perspective. They meet once a month on Thursdays.
